This may be the most random post ever after I have so much to talk about from the past 2 months basically, but I got to thinking after Amanda's post..

It's hard having worked toward this degree, always knowing this was the degree I wanted to pursue, but not knowing where I'm going to go with it once I have it.

Knowing what I want to do after I graduate in a year may not be possible now, but something my mom told me was that you don't have to know what you want to do right away, most people don't know.

It's a tough statement for me to grasp.

You know when you go through elementary school you know you're going to middle school. From middle school you'll be going to big and scary high school. After high school there's always college, the military, or straight into a full time job. For me and my older brother it was always going to be college and for my younger brother it was always going to be the military. After college, what's next?

I could find a job or I could go to grad school for something. What? I have no idea. But grad school. This is where my unknown comes into play.

I've faced this question before. It's always a tough one that is always in the back of my mind.

After I graduate in a year...

What's next?

Fortunately, I have a year to figure it out.

I'm feeling very optimistic and like the sky's the limit after working Orientation for the past 6 weeks.

I hope it stays this way :)

finals are DONE and everything is home. I have no plans to do anything for a week.

I'm moving back to school to work Orientation next tuesday :)

I'm not mad about it at all.

my junior year of college has been the craziest one yet.

let's hope senior year is just as crazy and more amazing.

Thursday: Community

welcome to thursday of the BSU Blogfest!

today's theme is Community

what I love most about Bridgewater is the sense of community I feel in every aspect of my life here.

let's do a little compare and contrast from BSU and college #1.

at college #1 I didn't feel like I was a part of the campus. from the moment I moved in to the minute I left. I felt like a stranger at my own school.

the dorm I lived in was not a cheerful place. the RAs didn't decorate the halls with certain themes, there weren't programs for us to go to in the dorm. the only part of that dorm that felt welcoming was my room. my roommate and I decorated a large majority of our walls, we had photos and posters on the walls. it was the only place I felt comfortable.

the classrooms felt like cells. little light, little color. large shades on the windows. I did my best to learn, but I didn't feel a connection to the professors. I didn't feel like I could visit them in their offices for help.

the clubs and organizations on campus felt closed off. I didn't feel like anyone wanted me to be a part of their organization. I was a part of one organization for my first semester, but had no connections to make me want to go back for the second semester.

whereas at Bridgewater, I already had a certain connection to the school, having visited my friends on the weekends, and seeing the good in it from the start.

I like seeing the decorations hanging on the walls and the themed floors in my residence hall. I love seeing that there is a program to go to, even if I'm not always able to attend. I like knowing that they care about the building even if it means they have to charge us for some missing elevator buttons.

the classrooms are well lit. I feel comfortable being in class. I know I can rely on my professors to help. I know they want their students to succeed.

the clubs and organizations on this campus are more than welcome to accept members. I made a connection and have become very good friends with so many people through Program Committee. I spend time in OSIL because I want to be around this wonderful community of people I've met on campus.

so whether it is from living in the residence hall, to being in the classroom, or what I do when I'm not in class I have always felt like a part of the BSU community. it didn't take me very long to feel that way either. I know my experience at college #1 has made me appreciate this community 10 times more.

sometimes I wonder if everyone feels the way I do about the BSU community. I don't think everyone takes advantage of what is in front of them. there are so many different outlets for the diverse group of students we have here. I wish there was some way we could reach out to every student and find out if they feel like they are a member of the BSU community and if they don't, help them to.

my college experience became so much better after I felt like a part of this campus. I take pride in being a student at BSU and this is because I feel welcome in such a great community.

a delayed wednesday: leadership

wednesday's BSU Blogfest post is a little late. it was a little crazy yesterday, but here it is :)

so Wednesday's theme was Leadership!

being a leader has been a new concept for me in the last year.

in high school and for my first couple years of college I never really thought of myself as a leader. for a while I was content being the follower. I got along standing on the side. But I always wondered what it would be like to be a leader.

last year, when it was my first year at BSU, I was genuinely happy being at this school and really felt that I had found where I was meant to be going to college.

I made a lot of new friends, many of whom I looked up to as great leaders on campus. they urged me to apply to be an Orientation Leader. until they mentioned it to me, I hadn't really thought much about it. I wasn't sure if I was the right kind of person to be an OL. they asked me a few different times to apply and I eventually did.

now after I went through the group process interview and found out I was an alternate, I wasn't overly upset and went on with the semester.

then I had a few different people asking if I was going to apply for PC e-board when they were looking to fill a few more positions. again, I wasn't sure I was going to be right for this position, but I figured, let's try it out. it's worth a shot. I went in for an interview and found out I was the director of marketing.

so long story short (and I know I've told the story before here on the blog) I found out I was going to be an OL. last summer, I really started to feel like a leader.

I know now that anyone can become a leader. the first step is going out there and trying it out. if I had gone along telling myself that I'm "not the right kind of person" then I never would have had the best summer I think I've ever had. I never would have learned that there isn't a cookie cutter kind of leader.

I gained so much confidence in realizing that yes, I can do this. I can be that person who stands in front of a group and be the one who they look to for guidance.

leadership has definitely been an important part of my life.

I'm not afraid to say I'm not the right kind of person anymore.

Tuesday- Technology

welcome to BSU Blogfest Day 2!

today's theme is Technology :)

technology has always been a love/hate thing with me.

without it I could be more productive. without it I would be able to read more than I've been able to. without it I could spend more time doing more.

but without it I wouldn't know some of the people that I do. without it I wouldn't be able to stay in touch with many people that I've met. without it I think I would be bored.

i thinking along the lines of personal technology

cellphones, smartphones, laptops, ipads, ipods

it's amazing how much our lives revolve around them.

sometimes I wish I knew what it was like without it all. technology of all sorts has its perks and uses now, but what were the days like when people use to talk face to face, not facetime to facetime.

yet I still would have trouble giving up my laptop or my cellphone or my ipod. it's frustrating to think about. are we better off without technology or is the world better off with it all?

I don't know.

I guess I wish technology wasn't so frustrating sometimes, but i wouldn't give it up for the world.

what about you? do you ever wonder if we're better off with or without it all sometimes?

Monday: Learning

welcome to BSU Blogfest Day 1!

today's theme is Learning.

I have learned a lot in my 20 (almost 21) years of life.

we could talk about what I've learned from class, what I've learned about family, what I've learned about friendships, what I've learned about myself,

I could continue going on and on.

but I think I learned the most in my first year of college.

some of you may already know that I didn't attend Bridgewater State University (aka college #2) for my first year of college. I actually went to another school. I transferred to BSU for my sophomore year.

I didn't know what to expect when I first went to college. I was a good student and did everything by the book in high school. I didn't get in trouble, got mostly As and tried hard to stay that way.

when I first got to college #1, I wasn't overly worried about living away from home. my parents raised me to be a pretty independent person, so the independence factor wasn't too troublesome for me. I've always been mature for my age. I knew I was going to school to get an education first and foremost.

what I didn't realize was the things I would learn about myself and the big world outside of the small town life I grew up in. I made a couple of friends that first month and got to know them. but when october of my freshmen year came around I learned a lot about trust. if you aren't careful about those you trust when you get to know someone, that trust you instill in them can come back and bite you in the butt.

I learned that the world is not perfect. terrible things happen to people and this can influence the way they act. when you get yourself mixed up with these people, you can be put into some difficult positions. I had to face the consequences for my so called friend's actions.

on top of this situation I faced, I also lost my grandmother in November of my freshmen year. she had been sick all my life. it was hard losing her. she was an integral part of my childhood and I learned that it doesn't do you any good to whine and complain about things in life. my grandmother had her good and her bad days, yet she never complained.

I tried not to let all of these things affect my schoolwork and finished the semester doing well in a majority of my classes.

over winter break the feelings and pressure I felt about everything that I went through during those first 4 months of school hit me all at once. I had one big anxiety attack. but luckily, I learned how to handle this anxiety I was feeling and I learned that crying is not a bad thing :)

I wasn't happy after my first semester of college. not just because of everything that had happened. I wasn't happy sitting in my room all the time. I did join college #1s version of Program Committee, but wasn't enjoying being a member.

over that winter break I learned that I did not want to stay at a school where I wasn't happy. I couldn't see myself graduating from college #1. that was the most important thing for me.

that's when I applied to BSU. I had visited my friends who went here their first year and loved it. I had applied here when I was in high school, but I wanted to try something different from my friends. to try out that independent deal.

I was accepted and made it through the second semester of college #1. after I left college #1 I never regret going there. one of the other many things I learned was how to branch out and try different things. I grew up that first year and I got a better understanding of the outside world.

but let me just say I'm thrilled to have been at BSU the last 2 years. I've learned so much and grown even more. I can see myself graduating from here next year and while it is a daunting thought, I know I'm happier now learning everything I did that first year.

well next week I'm going to be participating in the BSU Blogfest.

I'm sort of excited for it.

let me explain what is going to happen:

all next week, I'm going to be blogging about the theme of the day. each day has a different theme. I'm going to try my hardest not to stop writing in the style that I already do. my style goes with the flow and is basically whatever comes to mind. so whatever I think of is what I'll be blogging about. you know, the usual.

the Blogfest is part of a weeklong event hosted by the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership at my college, Bridgewater State University. this event is called Social Media Week!

there are so many different clubs, organizations, faculty, staff, and students who use twitter, blogs, facebook or other social media sites on our campus that it's time we use all of them in one week.

I normally write about my life and that isn't going to change next week. I'll be doing my best to apply the themes to things I've experienced in my life while still staying lighthearted and optimistic like I've always wanted this blog to stay.

I hope you all enjoy being a little piece of my every day life next week! please feel free to comment on the posts or write your own posts with your thoughts on the theme of the day or how social media ties into and affects your life. and if you do let me know! I want to know!

the non-french lesson

I took french in high school.

my teacher was a nice person. I learned a little bit of french. do I remember any french? um, not really, but I can say Je m'appelle Meghan (which I think means My name is Meghan) that's all I've got.

what I do remember is when we had a lesson on doing nice things for others.

with the lesson she wanted us to watch Pay it Forward. you know the one with Haley Joel Osment, Kevin Spacey, and Helen Hunt? we even got to watch it with no subtitles.

anyway it was a great lesson to have in junior year of high school, but just a little weird to have in a french class.

the idea of it is great, if you do something nice for someone and they do something nice for someone else, this kindness will spread to many others.

well a few weeks ago Vanessa over at Caramel Covered Photographs passed this amazing idea along.

it's that time again for 10 things I'm doing right now:

1) rocking some mustaches in this picture with my roommate Morgan

2) not doing homework... again

3) listening to some biebs. judge away friends, I give you full permission (even though it isn't sunday*)

4) counting down the days until Spring Break- 4 days

5) counting down the days until Disney- 8 days

6) thinking about how crazy banks are. I no longer go to the other school, stop sending them my loan!

7) wishing this gigantic Inception poster would stay taped up on our wall

8) thinking I can't wait to watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off since we just got it from netflix

9) so glad I'm not going to get soaking wet tomorrow like I did today

10) going to try and get a little homework finished before I climb in bed

I've been thinking about my future a lot lately. It's been happening more often.

I think it's because when I look at what I have left to take to finish my degree, there isn't all that much left to take.

so I ask myself, what do I want to do with my life?

I know I'm 20 years old and there's going to be some time before I'm sure I choose the right career, but the prospect of deciding what that will be is daunting.

how will I really know? when will I really know? what do I do to get there? what should my focus be on right now? what am I doing to answer these questions? why can't I stop procrastinating? what is out there for me? will I be able to do the things I want to in the bigger picture? what does the future hold?

i don't know the answer to any of this.

but i think that's okay

because that is what life is about.

it's the unknown.

it's just a matter of not letting the fear of it get the best of me.

the answer is out there, it's just going to take a while to actually find.

back to the swing of things

today would have been the third day of classes if we didn't have a snow day.

looks like the roads were a little messy especially when I got up at 7 to see if the university was open.

it wasn't, so I went back to bed and slept wonderfully.

I'm going to have a very busy semester, I can tell already.

I'm taking 3 math classes, a computer class, and a psychology class.

I'm only slightly crazy, I swear.

with all that I have PC meetings and events

and I'm working in math services

and I want to read 30 books this year and have only finished 2

and I still want to blog.

I have a lot on my plate I guess.

that's just the way things go when you're back to the swing of things.

my favorite book of 2010 is...

Mockingjay

{the final book in The Hunger Games trilogy}

I was so excited when this book came out in August. Remember when I had my Mockingjay dilemma? That's how excited I was. This was probably my most anticipated book of the year and that's also why I decided to make it my top book of 2010.

If you've read it before you can probably understand what makes this book great. If you haven't what I will tell you is this: I loved this book because it summed up everything in this series without sugarcoating anything. This fictional world of Panem is not a happy place. How could it when they make kids fight for their lives in the Hunger Games? Not everyone was going to survive. There would be hardships for our favorite characters in the end, yet somehow they survive. I don't want to ruin too much of the book though.

so those are my top 5 favorite books of 2010!

I had a hard time choosing my second favorite book.

let's just say it was a three way tie

so my second favorite book(s) of 2010 were

The Mortal Instruments Trilogy

by: Cassandra Clare

I know it's probably not fair to choose all of them because I did choose just one out of the other series in this top 5, but I couldn't wait to read all of them when I started with City of Bones.

There are many different parts to this series that drew me in. First, the supernatural aspect. I don't know if you can tell by now, but I love supernatural type books. I think this was inevitable since the first series I fell in love with was Harry Potter. The idea of having this other world in the mix of a modern day world in New York is the kind of thing I love to read about! There is never a moment where you want it to end. Just when you think you've solved the problem, it twists and turns into something you didn't imagine. Loose ends are tied up but others are presented and keep you wanting more!

This series was initially suppose to have just the first three but Cassandra Clare decided to continue the series into three more books

(City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls, and City of Heavenly Fire) in addition to a prequel series (Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, and Clockwork Princess). This leaves plenty of books to look forward to in the future for these characters and some new ones too :)

my third favorite book of 2010 was

Shiver

by: Maggie Stiefvater

{first in the Wolves of Mercy Falls series}

This was another of the many summer books I read. What I like about this book is the detail of the scenes in it. I felt like I was feeling every rise or fall in the temperature. I could see the snowy backyard of Grace's house. I could picture Grace's wolf. I wanted to hug Sam whenever I learned something new about his troubled life. There are so many emotions for these characters. And this was only the beginning of the story! I felt everything all over again for these characters in the sequel Linger.

my fourth favorite book of 2010 was

Sisters Red

by: Jackson Pearce

This was one of my summer reads. I liked this book because it was a new twist on something old. The author took the story of Little Red Riding Hood and made it into this tale of two sisters who devote themselves to tracking down and killing any Fenris (werewolves) they can find. I enjoyed reading about the two sisters and the battles they face both against the Fenris and with each other.

my fifth favorite book of 2010 was

Beautiful Creatures

by: Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

{the first book in the Caster Chronicles}

I read this book in January last year and really enjoyed it! What I like most about it was not just the relationship shared between Ethan and Lena, but the build up to the "main event" I guess you could say. The way these two characters fall in love with one another but still have this decision that they have no control over hanging over them had me turning the pages for more. Another point that drew me in was the Casters and the powers they possess. With romance and magic, this book and it's sequel Beautiful Darkness were right up my alley.

a year has flown by. I have no idea where it went!

BUT

I can trace my year in books.

remember way back last year around this time when I set a goal. I decided I wanted to read 25 books before the end of 2010 and hopefully most of those books would be new to me.

I succeeded.

I actually surpassed my goal and read 29 books this year!!

this feels really good to have completely my goal and a little bit more :)

maybe this will be a great lesson for me. I can accomplish anything. if I can imagine myself completing a goal successfully then I shouldn't have a doubt in my mind. I just need to go for it!

I'll be taking this into account while I move into 2011. this year I have surprised myself with how much I've been able to do and learn. there were so many changes in my life just over a year. looking at the years since I entered college I have faced my lowest points and then jumped right up to some of the best points in my life. everything is constantly changing.

and as I've learned in the past, change is good.

I was quite organized when tracking these books. I wrote down the dates I finished reading them so I know in the future how long it's been since the last time I read one of these books (since I love rereading books so much).

I have been on winter break for a total of 4 days now.

It has been a gloriously relaxing 4 days.

my days have consisted of a lot of nothing.

since I haven't done much so far here's a little recap of finals week:

studying and lots of it.

math tutoring. not as much as I thought there would be.

procrastinating. more than anyone should be during finals week.

late night visits to the library. had to take advantage of the 2am closing time.

bits of stress and complaints about not wanting to study which can be included in the time of procrastinating.

watching the Bruins.

one meeting.

packing and cleaning.

the actual finals themselves.

and a partridge in a pear tree.

it was the fastest, slowest week ever!

that doesn't make much sense, but it's true.

I have 3 weeks of vacation until I move back to school on January 7th for winter orientation. you better believe I'm taking full advantage of this down time :)

Just a thought for this Sunday afternoon.

I don't like to cry very much.

or really at all.

but sometimes it just comes out of nowhere, especially when I'm really tired.

I'm really tired this weekend.

Something that is always enforced, especially when I'm feeling this way, is how much I love my family.

They know how I am and what makes me upset. They also know what happens when I get upset. They really understand.

So I don't like to cry often, but sometimes I just feel it's necessary.

This weekend is one of those times.

All is well in my life.

Everyone is healthy, but sometimes things get thrown at you and you have to roll with the punches.

You have a great experience that brings out so many of the things you love to do. The thought of the future can be daunting and exciting.

I have so many great things going on in my life. I'm blessed to really have all the opportunities and people in it that I do have.

Love is overwhelming and a beautiful thing.

There's a feeling a had last night when I was in my room. It was an odd feeling.

It was a feeling of panic, but a good panic?

Any work I had to get done for today was finished. I read for my English class tomorrow. I even started to work on my History study guide for next week.

Heck my agenda is all written out for this week.

That panic feeling I had was one of what else needs to be done? Can this productive me continue?

What has gotten into me?

Now I'm sitting in the PC office working on improving some things and getting caught up on my Marketing work.

I like this. I like this a lot.

I have a few things due within the next week before I go to NACA that I want to get going on before I leave.

This week is going to be a good week. I can feel it.

4. I bought a new Owl necklace today. I think I'm obsessed.

5. I carved a little pumpkin that I think was quite fun today. I don't have a picture sadly, but it was cute, #trust.

6. I can't wait to go to New Hampshire for Halloween next weekend. I'm going to my friend's house for a Harry Potter weekend. All 6 HP movies in two days. It's going to be awesome. This may or may not be why I'm going to be Hermione for Halloween :)

I sit in the lounge thinking and thinking about this silly paper I'm writing for my English class. An english class that will impact my future career little to none. While I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my life yet I do know writing papers about Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and The Wanderer will not be of any help in the Mathematics field.

I'm procrastinating.

It's been really bad lately. I honestly thought I was going to get ahead on this paper last night and I sat at my desk on facebook and twitter almost the whole night.

I also haven't blogged in a while.

I've been procrastinating on that too.

I've been busy, but it's the same busy that has always been.

Nothings changed.

I think the stress is putting me in a funk. I hate funks.

I just wanted to get that out there.

Meghan is in a funk and needs tips on procrastination killing techniques.

I need to kick it's butt here.

why I've been busy

we all know I moved back to school two weeks before classes began, right?

right.

I'm here today to sum up the bulk of what has been going on.

1) I had a little training and worked 2 one day orientations.

2) I worked various activities for Welcome Week. Welcome Week is the week before classes start, or the time from when new students and old move to campus. programs, events, a couple trips, some fun stuff is planned for students to hang out meet new people, get to know the campus, all that fun stuff. It's mostly for the freshmen, but upperclassmen could have attended too.

3) I started classes.

2 classes a day. every day. 5 days a week.

start at either 9:30 or 10:10 and end either 12:15 or 12:05.

not bad but wait.

4) started tutoring Math again.

generally in the mornings at 8. who's smart idea was that?? oh mine...

5) jumped right into my role as Marketing Director of PC by planning out our table for the involvement fair.

I had help, but I was still all over the place having just ended the orientation/welcome week mode.

6) meetings for said marketing position occur monday afternoons, tuesday nights, and wednesday nights on top of working events at other times.

7) arranging a time to swap the car with my brother so I can have it on campus. it's settled and here. then him deciding he might want it back (resolution to this issue still in the works)

8) homework needs to eventually get done (procrastination hits hard here)

9) I like to have some semblance of a social life.

ie. I drove my roommates and me into Boston for collegefest (maybe I'll tell you about that later).

10) and finally trying to not eat a ton of bad food and have balanced meals has been a major fail. but do you blame me?

so I have just been going from one place to another, the last month (no idea how it's been a month already..)

I'm ready to go home this weekend for a little birthday celebration for my mom. I'm tired and have been reliant on coffee (not good).

BUT

I'm still optimistic this year is going to be a good one. I'm just trying to get into the swing of things and get a rhythm going.

please love me through it. I need it :/

I would just like to inform you, my lovely readers, that there is no longer a "mockingjay dilemma"

thanks to the kindness of one of my Orientation Leader friends who had to take a trip to target for windshield wipers (of all things)...

I have Mockingjay in my possession :)

this greatly thrills me and any time I am not working will be spent reading.

I'm only on ch. 6 as of this moment. I wasn't able to get it until later in the afternoon, plus I had to get up early this morning for the last orientation session of the summer, thus could not read all night.

so now i'm itching to jump on my bed and start going to town on this lovely book that i'm loving so far.

when I finish, I will tweet/email with reactions!

Hi friends.

I know it's been a long time again. It happens every once in a while.

so to the reason for this post. well one of the two reasons.

I have a Mockingjay dilemma.

this kind of leads to reason #2 for this post.

I'm back in my dorm and working August Orientation :) the room is huge. I'll post pictures soon.

so I don't have my car because my older brother still has it. I'm working until 5ish tomorrow. I don't know what my mailbox number is.

I can't pick up my copy of Mockingjay tomorrow :(

This makes me so sad.

I'm going out with my friend on friday so I might have to wait until then.

the problem is, I can't freaking wait that long!!

guess I'll just have to wait.

two weeks.

i don't think there's ever been a summer that has flown by as fast as this summer has. I'm moving back to school on the 20th, two weeks from today, and i can't even wait!

i haven't really been doing much during my time off. I've babysat a couple times, tutored a little bit, have been to the movies a few times, hung out with some friends quite a bit, and done a lot of nothing.

i can't wait to be back working the august orientation and welcome week.

i miss having a hectic schedule and meeting all kinds of people.

i miss my red polo :/

i miss living in the dorms.

i miss random dance parties... with other people.

i miss tutoring derivatives.

i miss PC.

i miss being near my college friends.

i even miss going to class.

so in two weeks i'll move into my triple on campus and will be back to the regular routine. while the nice month and a half has been relaxing, i am recharged and ready to go.

for now i'm just counting down the days :)

I've had a lot of free time the last month so I've been reading and listening to music a lot =)

a month. one month.

i've been on summer break for a month and what a month it has been.

story time:

I moved out of my dorm room on May 11th. I spent the next few days that week just kind of hanging around, cleaning my room and unpacking some stuff.

I had applied at Barnes and Noble the weekend before because I don't have a job for the summer. well I was sitting in my room that friday the 14th and got a phone call. I didn't recognize the phone number so i thought oh maybe it's B&N. It wasn't, but it was something even better.

I'm not sure if I ever said this on the blog, but I applied to be an Orientation Leader at my college. I didn't end up getting the position, I was an alternate.

Guess what that phone call was...

Yeah I'm an Orientation Leader =D

my supervisor told me a bunch of information about how things were going to end up. they had someone who could no longer take the position and I was the first alternate!

move in for the OLs was that Monday. I had a little less than a week of regular summer vacation.

this past month has been a blur and one of the greatest experiences of my life.

we had training for 2 and a half weeks, a couple days of transfer orientations and we just had our third session of first year students.

there are 3 more sessions left and i have to say i almost wish there was more.

I'm having such an amazing time introducing these students to the ins and outs of a college I love and owe the best days of my life so far to.

there's a lack of sleep, sometimes there are difficult students, sometimes it's like pulling teeth to get some of them to talk, and not all schedules work out as nicely as we hope.

I wouldn't trade any of it.

I've gained so much more confidence in my abilities to be a leader and in my confidence in myself. I doubted myself in the beginning and I was very worried about the first session.

If you told any of the students I've worked with so far, I don't know if they'd believe you.

I've made new friends and I've learned a lot about my campus.

we move out on June 24th and I have all of July and most of August as a break until welcome week at the end of August

I don't know what I'm going to do until then.

all I know right now is,

I love my summer job.

It has been a wonderful year and I don't think I could have asked for a better one.

it's that time of year again. the end of the semester when papers are due, tests are overloaded and taken, and i fail at blogging.

the semester has picked up right at the end and I've had very little time to do much blogging. I go to class, maybe have some meetings, sleep (including naps even though i said i wasn't a nap person), and plan out the future.

but no future talk today.

today is a quick catch-up day!

first i would like to enter to win a book contest. I've been following an author on twitter for a couple months by the name of Jackson Pearce. while I would love to say I have read her book, I have not unfortunately. my birthday was last friday on April 2nd.

I turned the ripe old age of 20.

(I kid it's not old =P )

but I'm no longer a teenager anymore.

did I feel older when I turned 20?

not really.

I actually felt older on my 19th birthday last year.

that was because it was my first year away from home for a birthday. and it was on a thursday so I couldn't go home because I had class.

anyway I kept calling it my birfday. it made me feel younger than I was turning.

I ended up going home for the weekend. it was also Easter weekend so I head home for that too.

I had dinner and cake and ice cream with my parents and younger brother. we hung out and caught up on the last couple weeks since I was home.

then my friend Jac and I went to the local shopping area and she told me that was how I was getting my present. we had a lot of fun =)

my family and friends know me so well based on the gifts they got me.

I got the new moon illustrated movie companion, a new moon edward poster (haha), a cute tank top, percy jackson and the lightning thief book, a $40 Barnes and Noble gift card (that I bought Nightlight and City of Bones with so far) and a lawn chair.

all of those might sound like pretty typical presents until you get to the lawn chair. so story time. a few weeks ago it got really nice outside and i wanted to sit out. I put my facebook status as I wish I had a lawn chair to sit out on on such a nice day. well my mom saw that and decided to get me a lawn chair.

and I love that lawn chair.

it was a great rest of the weekend! saw Remember Me for the second time on Saturday with Jac. she was just as surprised at the ending as I expected. on Sunday, aka Easter, I hung out with my parents and both my brothers (my older brother came home for a show with my little brother the night before) we had Easter supper and then my parents, older bro and I head to school to drop me off at my dorm and him at the train station that goes through campus.

there's only a month left until the end of the semester!

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of the Twilight Saga.

I love the books and movies big time.

Well that Stephenie Meyer is one sly lady!

She wrote an eclipse novella.

Yeah i know what is a novella?

I had no idea so i went to my reliable source (aka google) and found that it basically is a short story, but a little longer.

What is it about you ask?

You know Bree in Eclipse? She's the newborn vampire who's left at the end of the fight between the Cullens & wolves and Victoria's newborn army. She can't control herself and really wants to eat Bella.

Well, Stephenie made a short book about her. it's going to be called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner!

Check out the release of the news on her website here.

The book is going to be available FREE online in the beginning of June just before the release of Eclipse movie!

Hard copies of the book are also going to be for sale and a dollar from each one sold is going to go to the Red Cross! How great is that?!

Eclipse is my favorite book in the saga. I can't wait to read this and get a different perspective on the newborn army!!

Remember Me

in my last post, I told you I was going to the movies with my Mom on friday to see Remember Me.

all I have to say is, I haven't been able to stop thinking about it.

I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it. it is a little difficult to explain the movie without giving things away.

just know, it is a story about two people who have had some sucky experiences in their pasts. they have problems in their families and go through some different things together.

but it's more than that.

there is a bigger message to the movie as a whole:

we all have an impact on other people's lives no matter what.

I will warn you though, it is a sad movie, but a good one.

my Mom came with me so I would have someone to go with. she told me she wasn't really interested in seeing it, but afterwards she told me she actually liked it!

spring break

alas my spring break is coming to a close.

my school likes to have break a week earlier than many of the other colleges around here. i'm not complaining.

it's been a very relaxed, fun, and FAST break! i was quite the busy person this last week and i loved it =)

what have i done you ask?

well...

last saturday i went to the movies with my family. my mom and i finally saw Avatar.

i know, why the heck did it take us so long to see it?? it was amazing!! i was in awe by the end. i loved loved it =D

on monday i had a much needed hang out with my friend Jacleen!

she goes to a different college and commutes from home. when i'm home it's always fun getting together with her. we laugh and chat and usually go out to lunch and sometimes we have deep talks too. monday was much needed!

wednesday my friends Shannon and Terri from school came down to my neck of the woods (literally) to go to the movies and shop! we spent forever in old navy (which by the way, i used to shop at all the time, but had a fall out with. i think i'll be shopping there more often from now on), we ate lunch at Uno's and saw Alice in Wonderland in 3D.

i really liked Alice in Wonderland. i think i would actually suggest seeing it in 2D though. while it was cool seeing the effects, it was a little distracting to the overall story, but that's just me.

so we had a good day all together!

today i am going to the movies and maybe some lunch with my Mom. we're going to see Remember Me.

i'll let you know what i think of it ;)

i have a couple more days left with no stress before i head back to school. i always love coming home for a little bit after being at school for a few weeks. i'm actually not coming home again until my birthday (it's only 2 weeks)

in other news did i tell you i set a record?

i stayed at school a whole month before going home for a weekend!

this is a major accomplishment because at college #1 i went home every weekend of the spring semester... can you tell i like college #2 better?

my calculus professor is a witty older professor and at 8 o'clock in the morning that certainly got my attention.

this morning i had an epiphany when i woke up.

i figured out my song.

it was so simple, i don't know why i didn't think of it before.

i have to admit, i haven't really felt motivated to blog in the last few weeks.

its not because i feel like blogging is getting old, but i've just been so involved with school and worrying about applications and actually having work and reading to do for classes.

so i want to do an epic post about my trips, yes trips, to Boston in the last week.

i'm also going to try to do more posts (hopefully) for March.

this week started off at a bad note. i was in a slump.

tuesday turned out to be a great day,

until my dad told me there was a snafu, a little confusion, with my loan for school. it has hence been fixed, but it has still been erking me.

today was eh,

but it got a lot better after i called my parents and talked to my mom for a half hour on the phone (which is a long time seeing as i don't talk on the phone ever).

but since this blog is called OPTIMISTIC i'm being optimistic about this week.

it may have felt like it sucked, but it hasn't.

so i think it's time for a little catch up on what good is going on in Meghan's life.

- i've been given the chance to apply for a scholarship which i'm absolutely going to do. free money is good money my friends.

- i'm going to apply to be an orientation leader at school this summer. i think it would be an excellent experience and i would have a lot of fun!

- i went ice skating on saturday and didn't fall on my butt once =)

-i'm going to the Harry Potter exhibit at the Museum of Science in Boston in a couple weeks!! i've been wanting to go to it forever and finally we're going for my dad's birthday.

-although i am single, i'm celebrating S.A.D.* with my friends on the 14th. we're going out to dinner and then going to see Valentine's Day.

- i'm going to the movies with my friend chelsey on friday.

-there's only 2 more days until the weekend!

not everything is bad. there's always a positive spin on things. you just can't be blinded by the bad times, but keep your eyes open for the good.

do you ever have those days where you just want to throw some pjs on and watch movies all day with one other person?

well i'm having one of those kind of days.

it's a weird mood.

i call it a "socially off" kind of day.

my problems are:

1) I would like to hang out with people or be around people.

2) when i am around people I want to be alone.

3) at the same time, I don't want to be around people

4) it's monday

it's a terrible problem that occurs every once in a while.

not all my mondays are like this.

i think my plan of attack for the rest of the day is to:

- go work my 2 hour shift tutoring

- put pjs on afterwards

- eat dinner in tonight

- work on my homework

- find something mindless to watch on tv tonight

- go to bed at a decent time

hopefully this will remedy the situation and my tuesday will turn out to be a better day.

actually i know it will, there's PC tomorrow and i like PC =)

i love math.

my major in college is math.

i work at math services as a math tutor.

i took two math classes my senior year in high school and i've taken 2 math classes a semester so far.

and i'm hoping to take more than 2 in the coming semesters.

so here is...

My Ode to Math

Oh my dear Math, how I love thee so.

You always make my day.

Whether I'm in Calculus or Linear Algebra,

Statistics or Transitions,

You always seem to fascinate me no matter the class.

I may not always understand what I'm trying to learn from you,

But I can figure you out.

I might have to wake up at 7am to go to 8am Calculus this semester.

You know what,

I don't mind.

I've had many different Professors that have taught me your ways.

I've learned about derivatives and integrals,

Sequences and Series.

I know a lot about limits too.

And did you know dear Math,

that I haven't even skimmed the surface?

I have so much more to learn from you

And I'm looking forward to it.

So thank you Math for giving me something I enjoy studying.

Now I must go.

I have Calculus homework I have to do.

i know some people have a hard time with math. i also know not everyone needs to know how to find the slope of a line. trust me, i know.

and who knows what i'm going to do with my degree when i graduate from college, but for now i'm going to work hard and dip my feet into the different math courses that are out there, i'll find something i want to do along the way.

since this week is the first full week of classes and i've been seeing a lot of math lately, i figured i would share. i hope you enjoyed my ode.

vampire diaries recap: Bloodlines

i don't know if you my reader's know this, but i love Vampire Diaries.

i read the first books and let me say, for the record, the show is VERY loosely based on the books.

but i LOVE the show.

i was wicked happy when there was a new episode thursday night.

so i re-watched it yesterday afternoon and decided to write down a couple of things i thought about it.

it's spoilery. if you watched it or don't care what happened, please continue...

if you don't watch it, then oh well, sorry carry on...

i freaked out when i saw the car crash in the last episode. it was crazy and the mystery vamp creeped me out.

but then Damon to the rescue was very sweet and made him seem like he wasn't a monster, which is difficult for Damon.

that is until he kidnapped Elena and brought her to Georgia...

i really think the writers in this show need some new way of saying "I'm fine." i think every episode, at least one person says "I'm fine" when clearly they are not "fine."

i have to point out how happy i am that Jeremy hangs out with someone who isn't Vicky. i hated Vicky. plus i like sober Jeremy better than drunk/high Jeremy.

no #paulwesleyabs. that is all.

way to promote underage drinking CW. she drinks to let go for "5 minutes." cool.

i love how that new vamp guy says "If you want to be with someone forever, you have to live forever." oohh Elenaaa guess what you're going to have to choose some day *in sing-song voice*

i fail and am registered in the town of college #1.

i wanted to go to the voting booth to vote and they were giving out free t-shirts and rides to the voting booth for the presidential election. it was worth it, but i forgot to reregister at home so i could get an absentee ballot. ugh, fail.

oh well, so is life.

in other news,

i start working at my new math tutoring job tomorrow morning at 8am.

it's also the first day of classes tomorrow.

i'm working 8-10 and have classes 10:10 to 1:35. it's going to be a hectic morning!

but i'm ready for it.

i'm trying to open up my realm of books.

last year i started to really get into reading. i've always liked to read (as long as an essay, project, worksheet, or test isn't involved) but haven't really been turned on to too many books.

i love going to the book store, but get overwhelmed by the thousands of titles.

so i'm asking you, my blogging friends, to suggest books to me.

i'm working on a few books at the moment, but one of my goals for the year is read 25 books and books that i haven't read before. that's where you lovely readers come in =)

i like to read fiction

i like to read love stories

i like to read fantasy

i haven't read any classics

(but i would like to ease into reading them)

so suggest away and hopefully i'll be able to read them!

Happy New Year =)

i don't usually make New Year's resolutions. i feel like i would never be able to stick to them.

what i'm going to do is make a couple points that i'm going to try to stick to for the year.

key word here is TRY. that's all i can promise.

1. i will try to read new books and keep track of all the books i read this year.

2. i will try to be healthier.

3. i will get a job this summer that gives me more hours than what i got last summer (this is more of an i WILL than a try)

4. i will try to spend more time out of my dorm room

5. i will try to stay happy

that's what i can promise for 2010. i will try to be the best person i can be. who knows what the next year will bring but of course all you can do is take it one day at a time

i have a terrible memory.

that's just how it is.

i can't remember what was going on in my life when i was 10 in 2000.

it's only in the more recent years (2007-now) that i have more vivid memories.

that's probably because that's when i actually started doing things and hanging out with friends who actually had fun.

the memories i've made with them have been worth remembering.

some of the things i do remember:

2000- I turned 10 and thought it was so cool being an age in the double digits

-went to Disney World for the first time!

2001- we moved to my "new" house (aka my current house)

2002- can't remember much

2003- was officially a teenager (seemed cool at the time)

2004- i think this was the year i went to chicago on my first band trip, but i wasn't twirling baton in the band yet, i was in national line and held a flag...

2005- went to Disney World for the second time

2006- turned 16 and got my permit

- went to Virginia Beach on a band trip

-stopped playing soccer

-started hanging out with my good group of friends

2007-

was a junior in high school

got my license

turned 17

went to my first prom

started working at the farm

had one of the best summers of my life

started my senior year of high school

finally made national honor society

2008-

applied to college

was accepted to the 3 colleges i applied to

turned 18

went to Disney World with my best friends on our senior class trip

graduated from high school

had another awesome summer

started college at college #1

experienced aspects of college i did not want to

lost my grandmother and went to florida to say good-bye

2009-

had a minor winter break, breakdown

learned a lot about myself

applied and was accepted to college #2

turned 19

finished my semester at college #1 with good grades

had one of the fastest summers of my life

started at college #2 where i've met so many great people

really found the school where i'm happiest

that's been my decade at a quick glance or at least what i can remember.

i'm definitely looking forward to the many other experiences that will come with this new decade and next part of my life.

The other night, my friend Shelley and I were bored so we decided to make peanut butter blossom cookies!

I don't usually make Christmas cookies. We have TONS of dessert at Christmas dinner instead.

For the recipe, we just used one from the hershey's website.

I've been cleaning out my pictures on my phone and on my computer.

I decided I would make a little series out of them.

Today we start with pictures of my cat, Edd and these are just the ones on my phone =)

He is all grey. When we got him the lady called him submarine grey.

He's an indoor cat (which makes me unbelievably happy!)

He sometimes doesn't like me very much, but really he does ;)

He's a chicken. Honestly the definition of scaredy cat.

He likes to fight, but in a playful sort of way.

It only looks like he's trying to eat Jerry the hamster. Jerry can hold his own. He bit Edd on the nose once, haha.

I call him my bud. Not sure why but he's great. I love my bud =D

I actually have 8 more pictures on my camera of him. We had a photo shoot the last time I was home (he was a total diva). Honestly the most photographed cat ever!

Remember when I said November was going to be a fantastic month and so much better than last November?

Well it certainly was pretty dang great!!

It doesn't feel like it today (especially with the 67 degree temperature outside!) You have to remember this is New England people. We have freezing cold temperatures one day, but the next day we'll be in t-shirts. Fact of life with living in New England ;)

I'm very excited for December. I LOVE Christmas! It's my absolute favorite holiday ever <3

There's only 5 days of classes left before finals start. I'm hoping they won't be too difficult, but we'll see how that goes...

Happy Thanksgiving... Yesterday!!!

Only a day late, right?

It was a crazy busy day too. I didn't get a chance to make a post!

I spent the day with my parents, brothers, a cousin from my dad's side, and much of my mom's family!

We had so much fun and ate SOO much food. I'm unbelievably full. I'm pretty sure between yesterday and part two with the leftovers today, I'm not going to be hungry for another 3 days.

My aunt and two cousins from New Jersey and my cousin from the Coast Guard Academy are all staying at our house for the weekend. On top of my brother and me home from school, our house is packed! It's been a ton of fun so far =)

I also went to see New Moon for the third time yesterday. I went with my two cousins. It was still excellent the third time!

I didn't participate in black friday today. I had nothing I needed to buy at the moment. I still think it was too early to start Christmas yesterday and I saw Christmas lights up last night. I understand if people want to play music now that's fine, but I think I'm going to wait until Tuesday =)

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! I hope your stomachs are full and that tryptophan treated you well =D

I think it's pretty obvious I went to see New Moon at midnight the other night. I only slept 5 hours but it was totes worth it (plus I caught up by sleeping 13 hours last night).

I thought it was 10x better than Twilight. I would say it was 1349013x better, but we're saying realistic numbers here. I was really happy with it.

My favvy fav parts were (*spoilerish*):

1. The ending. Absolutely perfect! Couldn't have been a better set up.

2. The Volturi. They were bombdotcom. Aro was creepy. Like super creepy, my skin was crawling when he talked. Plus the throwing around of Edward wasn't in the book, but it fit in there seamlessly.

3. When Edward finds out through Jacob that Charlie is arranging the funeral. I loved seeing him crushing the phone. It was the only way you could truly see how devastated he was when he thought Bella had died.

4. Charlie. He was just a scene stealer. He was such an awkward dad, he rocked!

5. The months. I had no idea what they were going to do to show Bella's catatonic state during those blank pages that break my heart every time I reread New Moon, but they pulled it off!!

Those are just a few of my favorite parts, there were many more. I'm Team Edward all the way. I didn't debate changing teams when I saw Jacob take his shirt off (many times) or when Jacob and Bella almost kissed. I couldn't wait to see Edward again. I'm going to see New Moon again tomorrow afternoon and I can't wait =D

1. I've lived in my hometown for almost 15 years. I moved here when I was 5 years old and can still sort of remember my last day at my school. It was Halloween and I was in Kindergarten.

2. I always had a hard time making friends when I was younger. I got better at it as I got older (specifically sophomore year in high school).

3. I have never dyed my hair, until this weekend. And I LOVE it =)

4. I've never been on a date/had a boyfriend. I wish that would change...

5. Finding Nemo is my favorite movie.

6. All my money goes towards movies, music, and candy.

7. I procrastinate so bad. I usually wait until the very last minute to do papers or projects. I hate it, but still do it anyway.

8. I love to laugh. If you can make me laugh, we can get along very well. I think laughter and happiness are something you can absolutely create in your life. It's the best help when things aren't the best for you at the time. I strive to stay happy every day. And sort of to go along with that, I hate crying in front of people. I hate crying period and that has been quite the problem in the past...

9. I watch Disney Channel all the time. I usually watch it when no one else is around though =)

10. I would love to study abroad in England. I think that would be the most amazing experience ever! Plus I love British accents ;)

Here's the story.

I went to the mall with Chelsea and Sydney (my sleeping on the mall floor buddies) and Sydney's friends Brianna and Jillian. We got to the mall around 4pm. The autograph signing was set to start at 5:45. When we got to the mall there were already over 200 people. We asked what time the line started forming. The Hot Topic person said they started seeing people at around 2:30!

We had to wait outside for an hour in the cold. The mall would only let 220 people stand in line inside the mall. Here's Sydney, Chelsea, and me (the other girls didn't have bracelets for the signing so they waited inside).

The signing started and we made our way inside. There were so many news reporters there covering the story. My parents saw me on the news =)

We couldn't take pictures with him or of him, couldn't have him sign anything personal, and he couldn't personalize anything. Sorry I can't show a pic wicked close up =/

He was soo sweet to this little girl a couple of people in front of me. She was very shy when she was at the table. Kellan asked her a question and she didn't hear him or was really nervous he was actually talking to her so she started walking away. He said, "I'm not letting you go that easily" and she turned around. He gave her a high five, it was so nice!!

I couldn't think of anything to say to him so I just said hi and thank you. When he looked at me, oh my gosh... Yup I was star struck, haha!

After we said hi and got our posters we went and put them in the car so we wouldn't bend and ruin them, we went over to the stage. There were a lot of people there but we got a pretty good standing spot on the side about 3 or 4 people deep. We didn't have to wait very long before the band Hurricane Bells performed. They sing the song "Monster" on the New Moon soundtrack.

They sang 4 songs. They were pretty good, not really my kind of music but they put on a good performance.

We had to wait half an hour for Kellan to come out. In the meantime, a radio dj was doing some trivia and giving out prizes. So the time finally came for Kellan to come out!!

He has a picture of Ashley Greene because she was suppose to come to our stop on the tour, but something came up (she had filming for Eclipse to do) and she couldn't come. I thought it was so cute. When he came in, we were literally forced forward by the crowd. It was very close quarters to say the least.

It's a good thing I'm tall.

He talked about how Eclipse is going to be "dark and edgy" and how he loved doing the fight sequences and stunts!!

He said his favorite part of playing Emmett is being able to make fun of Bella. He said he would make Kristen Stewart laugh during their scenes!!

His favorite book in the series is Eclipse (which is mine too!!)

He says he loves going to fan events like the one last night instead of the "boring" press tours, haha =)

It was only a half hour long, but it was so much fun! It was totally worth sleeping on the floor! I can't wait for New Moon to open in a week =D I have my ticket for the midnight show (technically the 12:10 show because the 12:01 and 12:05 were sold out!!) I. can. not. wait!!!

In this post I said this November was going to be better than November last year. Let me tell you a little story.

My mom’s side of the family was always very close when I was younger. My mom has two brothers and two sisters. I can remember going to visit my grandparents at their house a half hour away from my house all the time on the weekends. We would have family parties with all my aunts, uncles (including my great aunt and uncle), and cousins all the time. Thanksgiving and Christmas were the greatest holidays! I loved hanging out with everyone.

We were all growing up. My grandparents and great aunt and uncle ended up moving to Florida in retirement. My aunt, uncle and cousins were always moving because my uncle is in the Coast Guard. My uncle, aunt and cousin moved to Florida for job opportunities. I still have family that live around me in MA and RI, but the rest of the family is all spread out now.

Now my grandmother had been sick all my life. She had emphysema and other breathing problems. That’s another reason why they had moved down to Florida, to help her breathe more easily. No matter how sick she got, she never complained. She had her good days and bad days, but she NEVER complained. Well, a year ago tomorrow she passed away.

That day was probably the saddest day of my life. I accidentally found out and was devastated. I knew my mom had flown down to Florida the day before but I didn’t know she was so sick. I found out on a Thursday night in the midst of studying for 3 different tests the next day. Let’s just say the studying went out the window.

So my dad picked me up the next day and we went to Boston and picked up my older brother. We ended up flying to Florida on Sunday for her funeral and to be with everyone else.

Something you need to know about my family is we don’t doom and gloom when someone passes away. We didn’t focus on her death, we focused on her life. We celebrated her life while we were in Florida. We were ALL together again and said our goodbyes to the strongest person I’ve ever met. I miss my grandmother every day.

I know this November is going to be better than last November because I’m not struck with the loss of my grandmother. I know she’s breathing easier in heaven and watching over me every day. I wish I could tell her how much happier I am where I am today than from last year. I think she’s definitely playing a part in that. =)

I kind of really like music. I love walking to class with my earbuds in listening to my newest music. I love getting a new song I've fallen in love with and playing it on repeat 10 times before I figure I should move onto the next one before I start to get sick of it. I love loading my ipod touch with my new songs. I love sharing new songs with friends.

I'm not super picky. I enjoy mostly top 40/pop music. I like really upbeat music that I can sing my heart out to. I wish I could show you my itunes music library. That would definitely give you a better idea of my music preferences.

I LOVE singing in the car, in my dorm room, my bedroom at home, even though I'm kind of a terrible singer. I always wished I had an amazing voice and people wanted me to sing. I got over that fast, but will still sing if I love the song. I'll even break out in song sometimes if I have a song stuck in my head.

I say all this because I'm listening to some new songs right now. It just inspired me to write a blog post about how much I love listening to music.

I know my preferences change depending on what kind of mood I'm in or what's going on right now in my life. Pretty sure everyone is like that in one way or another.

I'm listening to Demi Lovato's latest CD at the moment. I have been listening to the New Moon soundtrack, "Just Haven't Met You Yet" by Michael Buble, some songs from Glee, and I'm always listening to Owl City.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN YESTERDAY!! =)

Let me explain to you the craziest, weirdest Halloween I've had in years or maybe ever.

I said earlier in October that I was going to a Haunted House and that I would be working this Haunted House on Halloween. Well I did! But let's start back to Friday first.

I went to my 8am class, the only class I have on Fridays. It turns out there was less than half the class there, so my professor cancelled class.

After having no class, I went to breakfast with my friends like I do every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Then I worked the table for caricatures for Homecoming and PC. I hung out in my room, took a quick nap, and went to float building for the homecoming parade at 8. Afterwards I went and hung out with some cool people watching them play old school Super Mario on the original Nintendo. Pretty normal friday night.

Here's where the start of my Halloween began. My friend Chelsea came by and picked me up at 11:30 pm. We drove to the Mall an hour away. Then we camped out on the floor until 8 am.

Now, why the heck was I camping out on the floor? To buy my t-shirt and receive my wristband to meet Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz who play Alice and Emmett Cullen from the Twilight movies =D

Hot Topic was selling 500 limited edition The Twilight Saga: New Moon t-shirts. The wristband came with it and gives us the chance to meet these actors and get their autographs!! And I got mine!!! So here's to November 12th when they'll be at the mall!!! I'm so excited and can not wait =D

Since I basically slept on the floor of the mall friday night, I slept from 10-3. A nice 5 hour nap. I had to get up and get ready to go to Barrett's Haunted House at 4:30.

We got there and were brought into the House for a tour. Everything was running, but since we were the characters in it, there were no people to jump out at you. When I went a couple weeks ago, it was really scary, especially when the people jump out at you. This time going through it was STILL scary. The place is just eerie and gross. I kind of chickened out and was going to be the trailer watcher, all by myself sitting in the trailer watching everyone's things. I was alright with it. But the guy who runs the house asked if I wanted to be a scraper. I was very apprehensive and wanted to say no. But he assured me all I would be doing is sitting on a stool running a metal wand against a grate and operating an air cannon. I accepted, it sounded easy enough. It was easy. The scraper made sparks and the air cannon was perfect for scaring people. The only downside. I had to sit in this little closet thing in the PITCH DARK all by myself. I was a little nervous, but by the end I was so tired I just went with it.

I scared so many people! Sparks in a completely dark room is really scary. Add the air cannon when they least expected it and they went running into the next room!!

I know this November is going to be a better November than last year was. Of course I'll explain all that later.

getting involved on campus

I'm not going to lie, my courses this semester are not much of a challenge for me. Most people would be like,

"Yes, easy course load!"

but I'm more of a,

"Oh geez this is ridiculous, give me a little more challenge, please."

The other thing is, I'm unemployed. So, this means I have a LOT of free time.

Not a lot of homework + lots of free time = so much free time, Meghan doesn't know what to do with herself.

Story time. When I was at the other college last year, I was in a group called CAB (Campus Activities Board) for a semester. Only one semester because by the time second semester came around I was bent on being out of there asap. When I was in it, it was fun. The meetings were super quick and I didn't really feel like I was a huge part of the group.

Jump to the new school and right now. They have a club that is much like CAB except they are known as PC (Program Committee).

I heart PC

The members are sooo nice. I actually feel like I am a part of a group. The meetings are about an hour long. Everyone who is there enjoys being there and helping out and planning events. All members are required to do office hours whereas in CAB only executive board members had to do office hours. I think that has made a big difference between the members of the two clubs attitudes about them. I feel like PC is taken more seriously, which I as a member really appreciate.

This is what I've been using to fill that so much free time, Meghan doesn't know what to do with herself time. And I'm happy doing it, which is the most important part =D

In other news, I'm going to a Haunted House tomorrow night as a PC event actually.

And just to let everyone know,

I am a chicken.

I don't know how I got myself into it, but I don't think I'll be sleeping much tomorrow night, haunted by nightmares. *chill down my spine*

Oh and other fun news, I'm working at that Haunted House on Halloween for PC (I know ironic). I could be one of the people scaring the people who go to the Haunted House, but I asked what rooms there were and told the person who was in charge of assigning people to rooms that I was a chicken and she said "Well I need security outside." I signed right up.

I want opinions on this next idea. I'm thinking of focusing less about facebook and more on my blog. What say thee dear bloggers? Opinions are appreciated =)

what have i been up to?

Hello! It's been a little while since the last time I blogged, again. I wanted to thank the new readers for checking out my blog =) I hope I'm interesting enough. And I love getting comments, so feel free to leave a little love! I love finding new blogs to check out too!

So, what have I been up to?

Well, classes have been going pretty well. Same old, same old.

BUT I did go to a concert last friday night!! I saw Kelly Clarkson =D She is AMAZING in concert!!

I was able to go with my friend Rachael from the other college!

I haven't seen her since move out day in May, so it was really great to see her again!!

Thanks to Shelley and Chelsey (and Chelsey's aunt) we were able to get discounted tickets from them! Here we are all together =)

Our seats were pretty good! We were in the balcony, but in the first row. It was nice not having anyone obstructing our view, haha

She has such a beautiful singing voice live!

You know when some concerts are good, but not super good? Well her show was fantastic! And it was the opening to her tour! She let's the audience sing (I love when singers let you do that because I'm always belting out the songs anyway. Hey no one can here me so why not?) and she's a very real person! I would definitely go to her show again!

It was such a fun night! And that's a little bit of what I've been up to. Maybe next time I'll tell you about a group on campus that I've been pretty excited about being a part of =)

Got my new books last thursday.

Apparently I have WAY too much time on my hands. I was able to read two books in 6 days haha!

I heart The Hunger Games

It was action packed throughout the whole story. I was bringing the books with me everywhere! I felt for the characters through everything. Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Haymitch, everyone! The Games are brutal. It's hard to imagine a world like the one Katniss lives in. Panem is a place unlike our own, but you can understand the struggles the people of the districts go through. Despising the Capitol is easy, but unfortunately relatable. Continuing the story into Catching Fire was very easy. Just when you thought all was well with the world, things only got worse.

I have read it is going to be a trilogy. I can't wait until the third book comes out!!

Bran Hambric was another good read. I enjoyed it and kept reading on to find out more because I was hooked. There was just something about it that seemed off while I was going along. It felt long. I felt the focus was slightly off. I definitely had to rethink some parts to find out what the characters were talking about. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but something was off. Just saying =)

I have no more new books to read at the moment. I need to stop buying books. I should really check out a library. For now I'm going to reread some of the books I have with me at school.

But right now I'm going to do some research for a presentation next week and study for a quiz tomorrow =)

I feeling especially bookish lately.

Classes have started, but look at that, I have particularly easy courses this semester. This means I have a bit more time then I normally would. I'm pretty into the whole reading thing. I thought it was just a fad that would grow old by the time classes start, but I guess not. I'm DYING to get my hands on some new books. I have a couple in mind. But let me tell you the other one's I finished.

Last time I blogged about books, I had just read Dead Until Dark, Marked, was working on Betrayed, and was thinking about starting Blue Bloods. Well, I finished Betrayed AND Blue Bloods. I've also read the last three books in The House of Night series, Chosen, Untamed, and Hunted, AND I read The Vampire Diaries books (The Awakening, The Struggle, The Fury, and Dark Reunion). I've been busy haven't I? Or more appropriately I haven't been very busy because I read 7 other books in a month =/

I enjoyed all of the books. The House of Night series are all pretty much the same. They have a fairly boring beginning, with something exciting in the middle, and the VERY end is the best part. It was a little frustrating, but I was hooked none the less.

I loved The Vampire Diaries! It's been made into a tv series that starts on Thursday so I'm soo watching that!

Blue Bloods was actually pretty good. I liked it. There are two other books in that series, but I think I can wait to read them right now.

The new books I'm looking forward to reading are:

1) The Hunger Games and it's sequel Catching Fire

2) Bran Hambric: The Farfield Curse

I keep hearing excellent things about The Hunger Games. I'm really interested in reading it. Catching Fire just came out I believe.

Bran Hambric is by a new author who I've been following online for a few months now, Kaleb Nation. He's better known as the Twilight Guy. I figured I would read his book in support of his budding literary career and because I read the first few chapters. It's pretty interesting, so we'll see =)

I'm looking forward to reading and rereading all these books. Of course this will all be in between my homework and projects that I do have going on even though it is a lighter course load.

Have I mentioned I love it at my new school? Because I do =D

I'M IN!!

I have officially moved into the new college. It honestly feels like a few weeks ago I was writing my first post on here. It was the end of last semester, like 3 and a half months ago. Oh my how time flies when you're having fun!

Let's talk about how great this college is...

No better, let's talk about how great this college is compared to the last college!

1) The dorm room- Umm they don't compare.

I'm not sweating my butt off just sitting at my desk.

My feet aren't touching some sicknast carpet that who knows when the last time it was cleaned, let alone vacuumed.

The furniture is BRAND NEW. Legit, I'm the first person to use it new.

I'm on the first freaking floor! Not the more-of-a-fourth-floor third floor.

2) My friends are here.

A ten minute walk away, not a big deal at all.

Plus they have a pretty sweet suite, we've been chilling in there a lot.

3) The classrooms

Okay, so classes don't start until Wednesday, but I can guarantee they don't look like a cement prison cell.

4) The campus looks beautiful (not to mention looks like a college campus)

Green grass and flowers = beautiful

Sort of greenish grass and weird plants = not beautiful

5) I'm happy

Which is pretty nice =)

It is that time of year again. I'm packing my life away to move back into a dorm with someone new. I have my notebooks and pens, folders and backpack. Slowly it's all coming together again.

I'm hoping being a sophomore will be ten times better than being a freshmen. Although I'm going to a new school with a different campus and I'm going to be near my close friends, I'm still a little nervous. But, I've learned a lot over the past year. I know what I personally can accomplish and how to deal with different situations.

I'm ready.

I'm still pumped =)

I'm pretty pumped.

Want to know why?

Well there's a few things.

First, I'm having a few good friends over Saturday night. It's a cookout, swim, sleep in the camper kind of hang out. Can't wait!

Second, I'm reading some awesome books right now. And I'm pretty pumped over the fact that I'm into reading lately. I feel like it's soo much better than watching tv.

Third, I move into school in 10 days!! Yes I'm one of those people who like school. Well, it's mostly the fact that I'm going to a different school. I. Can. Not. Wait.

Those are the main reasons why I'm pumped.

Especially the last part about school.

I can't wait to think!

books i've been reading

I've been into reading lately. Sometimes I get that way towards the end of the summer. I'll be working or will have plans with friends but need something to do to fill my time. I could go on the computer or watch Gilmore Girls (I have all 7 seasons), but if I have a good book, then I'd much rather sit and read.

I was reading and rereading the Twilight Saga A LOT at the beginning of the year. I decided it was time I change things up. So I did =)

Well, I changed books.

I'm still reading about Vampires ;)

I've been watching True Blood on HBO. I found out it was based on a series of books, The Sookie Stackhouse series. I decided to change things up and read that (plus I finished the 7th Season of Gilmore Girls a couple months ago). The first book is called Dead Until Dark. I thought it was pretty good. The tv show stays to the books for the most part. There are a few characters that the show expands on more and there's a lot more nudity in the show than in the book, but I liked it. I'm going to try and read the other books at some point, whenever I can buy the other 8 in the series.

Another series I've started reading, all thanks to my friend Ashley, is the House of Night novels. I'm into series of books for some reason. I think it's the anticipation of there being another part to the story that is fun to read about.

The first is called Marked, but I'm on the second which is entitled Betrayed. It's a different type of vampire story much like Twilight. The vampires (spelled vampyres) in the House of Night don't explode in sunlight, don't have fangs, and don't have to be bitten to be turned into a vampyre. They are chosen and literally marked as a vampyre. It's set in a modern society where vampyres have just always existed. The young fledgling vampyres are suppose to have crescent shaped tattoos on their forehead. They either make the change into an adult vampyre or they die. If they turn into adults, their mark will turn into a more intricate tattoo framing their face. This series is in the point of view of a fledging vampyre named Zoey Redbird. She has a special power and is unlike the other fledglings.

I liked the first book and I'm enjoying reading the second book. There are 5 books to this series as of right now and I've been told there's a possibility of more.

So that is what I'm reading right now. I have another book in the line-up. It's called Blue Bloods. We'll see if I'm able to read it before I head back to school in 26 days =O

I don't like to read manuals for electronics. My theory is: if I want to use it, I'll find it on my own. This is this case with my laptop. I have a Macbook and I lovvvvve it. I think it's the best laptop evaaa. So I only tried using a Mac once before I got mine. I'll be honest, I only choose this laptop because it came with a free iPod touch and I love iPods to no end so it was a no brainer.

Free iPod = Meghan receiving a Macbook for school.

When it finally came in the mail I opened it up and the only directions I read were the ones that told me how to turn it on and how to set it up. The rest I was like whatevs I'll figure it out. And I did and I LOVE it.

Did you know you can take pictures of the screen? I've heard it called screen shot or something like that. I've srsly tried looking for it a million times. Well, I FOUND IT and I'm quite proud of myself. Took me a little bit, but I found it.

Case and point:

Another occasion where I'm pretty dang good at finding things. I just got the enV3. I knew how to find the most important thing, text messaging. That was a no brainer. I'm pretty good at finding that feature on all phones. It's a special skill I have. But I knew you could upload music onto the phone. With the help of my friend, we were able to figure out what was required to put the music on. I went home and figured it out. It was very easy and I didn't need to read one instruction booklet.

So there you have it, I'm a technological genius*

Who needs a manual to find stuff? ;)

I read a post over at Busy Bee Lauren's blog where she did a list of things she hates, but the rest of the world loves. She tagged it so now I'm going to do one myself! And she did this a long time ago (7/8) but I'm a slow blogger so I just finished my list, hahaha! Without further ado:

"Things I don't like that other people happen to love"

1. Writing

I know. It's ironic that I write a blog, but hate writing. I hate having to form an essay on a subject I'd rather not talk about. There are rare occasions where I get to write whatever I want and I don't mind writing, but writing for school where research is involved is the WORST. I know a lot of people who actually like to write, ehh.

2. Skirts

I can never find one that looks right on me! I have two, but NEVER wear them because they don't fit right and I can't figure out when I should wear them. I LOVE dresses though, unfortunately I don't own any cute summer ones at the moment.

3. Basketball

I'm not the biggest fan of sports in general. I mean I support the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, but any other team I couldn't give two hoots about. Basketball I especially share this dislike of. And would you know it I'm 5'8'' was asked by my gym teacher a few times if I thought of playing at all, and still have a complete dislike of it!

4. Michael Jackson

Don't get me started... Creeped me out when he was alive, creeps me out even more now.

5. Dogs

Ok, I don't hate dogs per say, but what I do hate is the drool and the clean up in the yard. They're sort of gross.

6. Willy Wonka/ Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

I don't know if anyone loves this movie or the remake, but I happen to strongly dislike both of them. Two things: 1) Oompa Loompas and 2) Johnny Depp.

1) freaks me out in the worst way. Can't stand anything to do with them. My friends know this and we don't speak of them, the movie, or Golden tickets *cringe*

2) he's just super creepy in the remake. I've only watched a little bit of it. The Oompa Loompas aren't as bad because it's just one guy made smaller through the computer, but Depp is unbelievably creepy in it to me.

7) Odd numbered volumes

Whether you're in the car or watching tv, the volume needs to be an even number. It just has to be. I've asked my dad to fix the volume before on the tv. This has also been used against me as a joke. I can't explain it, just trust me.

It's been a crazy few weeks in which I've been MIA. Family has been visiting, I've been working and hanging out with friends, Fourth of July, everything like that. This is my post saying I'm still here! *waves hands in the air*

I'm kind of a terrible blogger apparently. Im wicked inconsistent with my blogging. That and I have nothing to blog about. Welp let me think...

Oh ok, so I got my wisdom teeth out. Do I feel like I have less wisdom? No not really. Haha I know, but someone actually asked me that. It's been like three days. I still kinda have chipmunk cheeks, but I've also got this bruise. It looks like I got punched in the face. I think I've decided to make up a fun story for you about my wicked awesome punch in the face (yup just decided that right this second).

So this kid, let's call her Jane (because a guy would never and should never punch a girl, i hope) got all up in my grill. That's right all up in my grill. I was like, "What are you thinkin' gettin' all up in my grill like this, yo?" (because apparently I'm gangsta in my story) "Jane" was like, "You all went and stole my pen!"

"What the flip?!? I never stole no pen of urs!" I exclaimed (and urs is pronounced like that all slurred).

"Yeah you did you flippin' stich!" screamed "Jane" (not the other words, really flippin' and stich. this was an intense fight can't you tell?).

Then "Jane" goes and punches me right in the lower jaw and runs off. Yup she ran off because I stole her pen. So this is my epic fight that resulted in a bruise and chipmunk cheeks.

I'm a terrible story teller. I would show evidence of her punch, but seeing as I will not allow many to see me in this condition, I'm going to have to say you'll have to wait to see my pretty face sans chipmunk cheeks. Moral of the story: Don't get in fights and Meghan should not write stories.
